Simple minimalistic logotype of a golden gun

Challenge

To establish and expand the work of João Brochado, a director, filmmaker, and film professor at the University of Macau, the creation of a brand is proposed that combines oriental symbolism (gold) with the art of filmmaking ('let's shoot').

Creation of a symbol and corresponding graphic identity that reflect the stated values, specifically designed to operate (and film) within the casino and gambling universe.

Inspiration

Research and integration of the pistol element's symbolism (gun) with the imagery of action films set in casinos (Goldfinger), as well as some of the equipment from that era (35 mm).

Solution

Blend the aesthetics of a pistol icon with a vintage 35mm film camera, subtly incorporating the horizontal element of a cinema clapboard.

The design of the logo also incorporates the golden rectangle (Fibonacci sequence), which, combined with the use of gold tones (through glitter, embossing, or foil), enhances the 'magical' quality this element holds in Eastern culture.

Along with the angle of the camera's aperture, two diagonals are formed that evoke the lighting lines of cinema projectors.

Results

  • Trademark registration in both the Macau and Hong Kong regions.

  • Perception of a brand with local origins and a direct connection to the surrounding environment (casino) and all the performances and activities filmed in these spaces.
