Challenge

  • Build a Portuguese wine brand from scratch, designed exclusively for the Brazilian market.

  • Craft a name that is distinctive and easily pronounceable in both Portuguese and Spanish.

  • Counteract the lack of familiarity of a new brand by incorporating a name and visual design that evoke historical and familial connections.

Inspiration

  • The place of origin in the wine region (Douro).

  • Drawing from the ancestry of Latin and its expressions as a starting point for the brand name.

Solution

  •  Incorporate the region's name (Douro) into the brand name.

  • Use geography (mountains, terraced vineyards) as identity elements within the symbol.

  • Adopt a Latin expression (Mare Nostrum) as the key to the brand name, combining its origin (Douro) with a sense of belonging (Nostrum) – "Our Douro."

  • Significant acceptance of the brand and its products in the Brazilian market for imported wines.

  • Local recognition in gourmet shops in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
